Don’t bother with the TPX Radar Detector, its a piece of crap! I bought one 4 months ago, after professional installation the unit wouldn’t turn off. Had to send it back and got a new one; 3 months later the new unit simply won’t turn on, A COMPLETE WASTE OF TOO MUCH MONEY! Tech mount, professional installation fees and shipping fees of purchasing and returning the damn unit!

Rau, you’ve probably got a bad unit. I’ve had mine for 2 years and it still works like a charm.

@ Rau – We have had this unit on my wife’s Sportster for a couple years, never had a problem. We are currently testing an updated version now that has even better performance and range.

Also the guys at Adaptiv will take care of you if you do have any problems or concerns.

Reach out to them, I’m sure that they can get your problem cleared up

Rau, no problems with mine…I think u screwed up by not doing the install yourself…You might want to check your professional installation…probably they screwed up the wiring…its a no brainer install…

Just sold my TPX 2.0 As a LEO, I was able to test this unit myself. I really liked the design and ease of use. The best thing about it was the waterproof design and the quick release mounting plate. I also purchased the car kit and wireless headset.BUT, the sensitivity to KA band was way behind the V1 and X50s I have owned. I took one 1000K trip with this unit as well as tested it a couple of times at work. I also used it twice in my personel vehicle on 2 recent trips. If you are on wide open interstate under right conditions you may get a 2-3 mile alert. But under normal circumstances your lucky to get a good alert 3/4 tp 1.25 miles. Also since most of us ride with earplugs, that made the wireless headset useless. I am going back to the X50 and just rig it for motorcycle use. You can but a great 5-LED visual alert the will more than get your attention. The minor pain of having to keep it in a ziplock bag on the bike is well worth the superior range and features. I would not reccomend this for serious long distance motorcycle gadget heads like me. I voiced my concerns to adaptiv tech with little concern on their part. If they ever get this unit to come even close to a X50 or V1 I will buy it again.
