Escort Max 360 Review
The first portable radar detector that has the brains to filter out the collision avoidance sensors coupled with directional arrows for full 360-degree situational awareness. – Radar Roy
Situational Awareness Begins With Accurate Reporting
Military strategists agree that it is critical to have accurate and timely information about your adversary.
Because of this when investing in a detector your three most important considerations should be its accuracy, range and the situational awareness it provides you.
Main Benefits of the Escort Max 360
The Escort Max 360 is Escort’s newest programmed with Escort’s new collision avoidance sensor blocking software, enabling the Max360 to block out most of the false alerts caused by the anti-collision sensors installed in new cars.
The Escort Max 360 is also Escort’s first full 360-degree detector with front and rear facing antennas and is coupled with Escort’s digital signal processing algorithm (DSP) enabling it to have over 8-times the range of a police radar gun. And because the Max360 uses a high definition OLED display instead of LED lights and voice alerts rather then tone alerts, you can quickly gain full situational awareness to respond accordingly.
The Passport Max 360 is also GPS equipped enabling it to alert you in advance of approaching photo enforcement cameras and speed traps. The GPS feature also enables the Max 360 to automatically fitter out known false alert locations by the exact location and frequency and to adjust its sensitivity accordingly.
And as an extra bonus the Escort Passport Max 360 is Bluetooth enabled which connect your detector to the Escort Live community, enabling it to share real time radar/laser and police spotted alerts.
Because of all these features and benefits the Passport Max360 is the worlds best radar detector on the market today to protect your freedom while driving on the open road.
False Alert Anti-Collision Sensor Filtering
The biggest annoyance with radar detectors today is the overabundance of false alerts caused by the anti-collision sensors installed in new cars today.
These sensors operate on the same K-Band frequency police use so most detectors are rendered useless.
Because of this the Engineers at Escort have devoted over 3-years of their time to come up with a solution to block these false alerts out.
The way they accomplished this was to identify the DNA signature of both the vehicle guidance system sensors along with the police radar guns used in the USA and to create a new digital signal processing system which enables the Max360 to intelligently block out a majority of these false alerts, while also enabling the Max360 to sniff out and alert to real police radar at greater distances.
Full 360-Degree Situational Awareness
The Passport Max 360 is Escort’s first radar detector that offers a dual front and rear antenna design, which will provide you full 360-degree situational awareness.
The three most important things you need to know when your radar detector alerts to a real police radar threat are:
- The direction where the threat is coming from
- The distance you are away from the threat
- The frequency of the threat
The Max360’s only competitor in the 360-degree category is the Valentine One.
Because of this we have created this comparison chart to help you decide which detector offers you the best in 360-degree situational awareness:
Escort Max 360 | Valentine One | |
Arrow Visual Alert | High Definition OLED display that color codes the arrow(s) by frequency | Red LED arrow display. |
Bogey Counter | Can display up to 5 arrows simultaneously all color-coded by frequency. | Numerical display and frequency non distinguishable |
Signal Strength | Intuitive graph signal strength display | Six small red LED lights |
Visual Threat Identification | Color coded band identification displayed on OLED display | 4 small LED lights |
Audio Threat Identification | Bi-Lingual voice alerts that identify the threat in either English or Spanish | Hard to distinguish tone alert |
Display Exact Frequency of Threat | In Expert mode the Max 360 will display the exact frequency of the threat | Not available |
Extreme Range Radar Protection Front and Rear
As demonstrated in our performance test videos of the Passport Max 360 at the bottom of this page, the Passport Max360 has over 8-times the capture distance of a police radar gun on both front and rear alerts.
Front Detection Testing
- Kustom Signals Golden Eagle 35.5 Ka-Band Test – 10,500 Feet
- Applied Concepts ATR 34.7 Ka-Band Test – 15,700 Feet
- MPH Bee III 33.8 Ka-Band Test – 14,000 Feet
- MPH Z-25 K-Band Test – 16.100 Feet
- Dacatur Genesis VP K-Band Test – 14.600 Feet
Rear Detection Testing
During all the tests the Max 360 was able to detect all of our K and Ka-band radar guns at two miles or more
GPS Equipped
Unlike the Valentine One, the Passport Max 360 is GPS equipped which enables the Max360 to:
- Alert you of fixed photo enforcement cameras as you approach
- Alert you of known speed trap location as you approach
- Automatically block out known false alert locations based upon the exact location and frequency
- Automatically adjust the sensitivity of the detector based upon your speed
- Enable you to mark your own speed trap locations and points of interest
The Max360 ships preloaded with Escort’s Defender Database, which is the most accurate photo enforcement database for North America.
This enables your Max360 to alert you in advanced of fixed photo enforcement cameras and known speed trap locations as you approach.
And updating the data on your detector online is a snap through the Escort Tools program available for both PC’s and Apple commuters.
Escort Live Equipped
The biggest break through this decade in the speed counter measurement community is the ability for your radar detector to share historical and real time data with accuracy, with other radar detectors in the cloud.
Unlike the Valentine One, the Passport Max360 has an internal Bluetooth chip set, which enables it to connect to the Escort Live community through your iPhone and/or Android smartphone.
This enables your Max 360 to:
- Alert you of real time police spotted alerts
- Alert you of real time radar and laser speed traps in your area
- Alert you of historical speed trap locations including aircraft enforcement locations
- Alert you of fixed photo enforcement camera locations
- Enables you to program the advanced features of your detector through your smart phone
Your Max360 includes a free, 1-year subscription valued at $49 when purchased through our website.
High Definition OLED Display
Unlike the Valentine One, which uses antiquated LED lights, the Passport Max 360 has a high definition multi colored OLED display, which has intuitive arrows, and icons so you can quickly obtain the situational awareness you need in the blink of an eye.
Additional display features include:
- Color coded arrows based on frequency
- Cruise Alert – warning you when you’re exceeding the posted speed limit
- Bar Graph – identifying the signal strength of the threat
- Expert Meter – identifies up to 8 multiple alerts with signal strength at once
- SpecDisplay – identifies the actual numeric frequency of the radar signal
- 5 levels of brightness including full dark mode
Clear Bi-Lingual Voice Alerts English and Spanish
Unlike the Valentine One, which only provides a variable beeping tone when it alerts, the Passport Max360 has clear voice alerts, which identifies the type of alert in either English or Spanish, which enables you to keep your eyes on the road and not on your detector.
Online Firmware and Database Updates
Unlike the Valentine One where you have to mail your detector to the factory to be updated the Passport Max360 has a USB port that enables you to connect it directly to your computer and download the latest firmware and database updates.

BEST EVER!!
Pro: Got this early for testing
Con: unaffordable
How effective do you find the filtering out of anti collision detection systems to be?
Don’t know yet for sure, the prototype wasn’t loaded with it
I’m sorry of this has been covered. It says a dual front horn. Is this the M3 horn?
New M6 horn
Ha! I totally called it on your Facebook announcement! I like how you laughed at me at the time. Awaiting an apology, buddy. ..
Does the MAX360 allow Ka lockouts yet? I and MANY other users have a lot of non-police Ka emitters that need to be locked out by GPS location. I am going to wear out the MUTE function on my nearly new MAX2!
Well the software on the new max360 is suppose to be better at this type of filtering, how much better don’t have any idea yet
Does this detector have “radar detector detector immunity”? And if so, what kind of tech does ot use? Ie: VG2
Well VG2 isn’t used anymore, police use the Spectre. But no, the Max360 is not stealth. You would only need a stealth detector in VA or if you drive a commercial vechile over 10,000 pds
In TN can you have a GPS in a commercial work van?
Sure, you can also have a radar detector as long as the van does not weigh over 10,000 pds
Hi. Do u think the max360s sensitivity is better than a new redline
A segmented Redline will have better range then a Max 360 however the Max 360 would not give as many false alerts as the Redline
They have a pay your fine if you get a laser or radar ticket. Does the 360 work for laser too?
Well all radar detectors will detect laser, the problem is detecting laser in time as it is instant. To have real protection for laser you NEED a laser jammer
I really like Escort’s products. I pre-ordered the original MAX and really like it, with some misgivings. Candidly, this thing is pretty ugly though. I wonder if they have anyone on their engineering staff that thought about aesthetics. The V1 is a thing a beauty – The Max 360, not so much. A year ago I sprung for a new V-1 with a remote head which I mounted on the top of my steering wheel , right in front of the speedometer (Ford F150). It cost more, but I get the best of both worlds (I keet the V1 muted so falses don’t bother me). When my Escort Max goes off, I immediately look at the V1 remote to see WHERE the threat is located. The onbly advantage this product has over my set up, that I can see, is the Anti-Collision Sensor Filtering updates, which I should be able to get on my Max 1, correct? If not, then Escort is gouging their customers (being crafty) trying to get their customers to upgrade to a more expensive product every couple years or so. That would be very sad if true. Your thoughts Roy?
From my understanding the new Max 360 does offer a new chipset enabling it to filter out the anti-collision sensors better then the Max/Max2. However I’ve told that after the release of the Max 360 that they will be working on a new update for the Max/Max2
The old escorts had the ability to have a laser jammer added on does the max 360 retain this feature?
I bought the MAX 360 and used it for 3 months. It replaced a 9500ix. I must be doing something wrong because its constantly alerting to K band emitting cars. Yes I keep it updated. Its also just HUGE and unwieldy. I use a Blendmount mirror mount and it just shakes and rattles. I finally had to take a piece of foam and wedge it between the mirror and detector to calm it down. I’m replacing it with the new ix. I’m sure its an okay detector but I’m just tired of dealing with its size.
