VF-2 Speed Camera Photo Blocker Scam!
I’m often amazed by the gullibility of distributors, dealers, radar detector websites and those who claim to be “expert reviewers” in this industry, case in point, the VF-2 Photo Radar Jammer.
Several years ago a Canadian company began manufacturing the Equalizer VF2 Speed Camera Photo Blocker. They began by selling their device to the European market and in a short period began receiving rave reviews from various magazines and websites as the first electronic device to foil the traffic enforcement cameras.
During this same period, a Colorado based radar detector dealer found out about the device and obtained the exclusive distributorship for the USA. His first stop was Speed Measurement Laboratories to get their “stamp of approval.”
SML made it clear that he didn’t have access to a real photo radar or red light camera and that the only device they could offer was a commercial grade camera and flash device to test the VF-2. Eager to get the product on the market, the new distributor agreed. Several photographs were taken at close range and the VF-2 did block out the photos. The distributor then “spun” this test as an official endorsement.
Booths went up at SEMA and 12 volt electronic distributors and dealers signed up by droves to carry the first electronic countermeasure device offered in the USA that could foil all photo radar and red light cameras.
Being somewhat suspicious of the claims I obtained my first VF-2 directly from the distributor for my testing and review. Cameras and strobes of the same type as the automated traffic enforcement devices used in Arizona were obtained and I performed my first round of testing. The VF-2 failed to activate on over 100 attempts. I contacted the distributor who found fault in my testing procedures and made several recommendations.
We followed his advice but during the second round of testing we discovered that the power transformer of the VF-2 had failed, so the distributor was contacted and I was shipped another.
Just as the second unit arrived, the City of Scottsdale was in the process of activating eight new photo radar cameras on the 101 loop. During the initial phase of their program they were only issuing written warnings and not citations to violators. I saw this as a perfect opportunity to go out and put the VF-2 to a real world test without the risk of racking up fines.
The following video documents my test against four of their cameras going fifteen miles over the posted speed limit. One week later I received four written warnings from the City of Scottsdale in the mail for speeding.
We posted the results of our test and contacted the distributor and several other websites about the VF-2 failing in a “real world test.”
Two years later we still find these same websites and the Colorado distributor still selling and advertising this product as being effective against ALL TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT CAMERAS.

12 hours after posting this blog, I was contacted by an individual that had used this device. They told me that the power transformer used on the VF2 had MELTED and almost caused a FIRE in his car.
Those of you that may had installed this device may want to consider removing this unit from your car immediatelly!!
Roy, you just PWNED John Turner!
I to had a friend that had a fire hazard created in his vehicle (smoke damage) because of the shoddy “weather proofing” and cheap construction quality of a VF2 that Turner heavily promoted by giving it 5 stars.
I have long suspected the star ratings system that Tiger Lily uses throughout all of their many websites and the test that SML conducted using only a prosumer camera and flash close up to “simulate” the photo cameras. The test was bogus and so were the results.
Turner’s primary website 1stradardetectors even has a star rating system in which they claim the tested the new belscort gx65.
Since you and the Veilguy are the only ones to have received that detector in advanced of their general release, Turner’s charts and ratings are obviously a bogus fabrication.
John is a self proclaimed expert who used to work for Churchman at RMR, then sold his own passive radar jammer (RMR knock-off), long promised an active Ka jammer (that he never delivered) and then bogus VF series. John also tries to make himself look like hes part of SML officially, which he is not, and then goes on to copy your website format right down to his own forum where he posts under a least four different user names.
That’s why I only trust the findings of you, the Veilguy, and the Guys of Lidar. You guys are the ones that actually test what you recommend.
You guys rock!!!!!!
That is really funny, because the Tiger Lilley dealer in Australia uses the same star system at John Turner, and also rates products he has NEVER SEEN. And strangely the star ratings used by Delonix Radar also include 5 star ratings for what ever he has in stock. Then when we stops selling something, it suddenly goes from 5 starts to 1 or 2 if you are lucky! These people should be exposed for what they are. Isn’t Tiger Lilley the name of the princess in the Peter Pan story?
I can’t get over how they have fancy names for products that aren’t even theirs. Thrown a Beltronics or Escort detector in a box with a Blinder jammer, and baaam, you have a whole new range of products. What a tosser!
Hahaha I love this video! This rocks
I believe they are just for traffic monitoring since they usually point towards the oncoming lane and like here in indiana we don't have front license plates so it would be pointless to be a red light camera. Red light cameras are easy to notice, it's either a big box on the sidewalk that emits a massivly bright flash when someone blows the light or its several lights extending the length of the pole that the traffic light hangs on and emits several high intensity flashes.
This is such a load of crap. If they are so concerned about safety they would lower the speed limit around towns and in towns. That would save lives. Its a money scam just like the red light cameras!
The camera thing has been quietly growing in every city. Most people are clueless to all this. As most people have no idea that the government can now put a gps device on our cars with no warrant. They can legally track us through the internet now and of course wire tapping and on & on. Most people I tell this to think it's bullshit, but they refuse to find out for themselves. I think people like being blissfully ignorant, cause I think it's all become too overwhelming & frankly hard to believe
Sometimes when a product seems too good to be true, it usually is. I guess another point to think about to these new devices such as the Scd2 protect against infra-red flashes as well as cameras which take 2 quick flashes such as the traffipax red light camera systems.
Great Review thank you very much
