Motorcycle Radar Detector Review
Are you considering mounting a radar detector to your motorcycle?
Figuring out which radar detector and how to properly accessorize it to your motorcycle can be a challenge.
Because of this I have put together this short, 3-minute video along with this article with some of my suggestions to make it easier for you.
Motorcycle Radar Detector:
When I ride, I ride hard!
Because of this those weekend warrior radar detectors like the Adeptiv TPX radar detector just will not give me the performance I require when riding.
So the Stealth Hog is now outfitted with the Passport Max2 radar detector from Escort.
The Max2 has the longest range and highest sensitivity of any radar detector ever made.
H.A.R.D. System
When you’re riding you should be paying attention to the road ahead and not to your radar detector, so because of this a good friend of mine named Aaron Zimmerman came up with a helmet assisted radar detection device called the H.A.R.D. system.
Basically it’s a two-piece wireless system that alerts you with a LED light that you mount on your helmet.
The receiver interfaces with the higher end Escort, Beltronics and Valentine 1 radar detectors.
Blinder Laser Jammer
Today police lidar is very popular with police departments around the world because radar detectors themselves are totally ineffective in this type of enforcement.
Because of this I outfitted the Stealth Hog with Blinder’s HP-905 laser jammer.
Now laser jamming is illegal in some states, so to avoid any problems I have programmed my Blinder to automatically stop jamming 4 seconds after alerting to a police laser gun, providing ample opportunity for me to slow down and not raise the suspicions of the officer.
Motorcycle Mounts
Personally, I find those RAM-MOUNT radar detector and cell phone mounts to be very UGLY and not very effective in keeping your detector or your smartphone secure.
Because this this I outfitted the Stealth Hog with Techmount’s Motorcycle Radar Detector Mount and their Motorcycle Smartphone Mount.
Their mounts are crafted from billet aluminum, which makes their mounts lighter, more attractive and most importantly more durable.
