Escort Redline EX Review & Introduction
Escort Redline EX: New extreme performance radar detector from Escort gets much needed updates
Published: 7-26-17 by RadarBusters Staff
While not the biggest selling or the most popular radar detector from Escort, the Escort Redline has thrilled enthusiasts with its eye-popping detection performance for nearly a decade. Like its stablemate, the Beltronics STi Magnum, the Escort Redline as the first radar detector to ever be developed that was undetectable by SPECTRE radar detector detectors, which are used in areas that ban the use of radar detectors (like the Commonwealth of Virginia).
Exceptional as it has been, a lot of things have changed in the RF landscape that has transformed what were once great assets of the Redline, into liabilities. I am referring to the plethora of K-band radar-based collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control systems that are now found everywhere. The Redline simply wasn’t designed in the era where these annoyances existed so it was woefully inadequate at filtering these things out. When coupled with its extreme sensitivity, it only made matters worse leaving the Redline most suited to highway or rural use.
That simple fact is the Redline was in desperate need of an update. To the consternation of many in the enthusiast community, the Redline was, how should we say, “neglected” with other more popular selling radar detectors taking priority, such as the Escort Max 360 and the Escort iX.
Soon, however, the enthusiast community will get the attention it so deservedly needs, with the long-overdue update to the Redline, called the Escort Redline EX.
The Escort Redline EX combines the best of what the Escort iX and the Redline had to offer into a thoroughly modern GPS and Bluetooth capable radar detector. Escort has brought the Redline EX solidly into the 21st century and promises to offer not only great sensitivity that Redline fans have come to expect, but also the advanced filtering of Escort’s more mainstream radar detectors.
When you factor in the ability of having GPS photo and redlight enforcement alerting and Bluetooth connectivity to Escort Live!, the new Escort Redline EX should not only re-establish its relevancy, but may also take the detector out of the “specialty” category and move it more into a mainsteam radar detector. We expect sales to exceed that of the original Redline.
