[…] hardwire mount radar detector That video may be of good help or google search a few others. I'm going to try this after Christmas, seems like a clean and easy install. __________________ 2006 "Aggressive" Solstice view MY GARAGE for more details […]

Thanks Roy, I’ve been wanting to direct wire my Redline and this video will definitely help.
I have owned the 9500ix for over a year now. Two “issues” – I am now on my third cup-mount and while a big improvement over the dual suction cups, when the cold weather came, so did my RD. Csme, or should I say flew, right off the windshild!
Second, out of the last 8 LEO traps, six were “silent” pop radar, so I question the utility of an RD with my RD running silent and the cops running stealthy.
I had a 9500ix hard mounted high on an upper tint strip and lived in SD for nearly 6 years and never had one issue with the two suction cups through all of the nasty winters. I however checked periodically to make sure there was a good contact throughout the seasons.
I have a 2012 Nissan GT-R. I’d like to install a radar detector that is hardwired and invisible.
Do you have a recommendation?
I am looking for a local installer.
Sorry, I do not
Hey Radar Roy!
I am looking to wire my Redline to my 2000 Silverado, I just checked and my radio fuse is 10A. Is that too much to wire it to? Nothing in my in dash fuse box is less than 10A.
Thanks!
That is fine, the inline fuse for the Redline will reduce it
The inline fuse is in the direct wire smart cord right?
Okay, everything is hard wired in! I just have one question. The RedLine is reading 14.2 V. Is that too much?
No, just means that you’re charging system is working. Drive safe and smart
yes.
How do you direct wire an escort 9500xi in a 2012 Mercedes benz E 550
On a Mercedes let a professional do it
The fuse box is in the trunk and if you mess something up and lock the anti theft system your talking bag bucks to fix it
How about a Saab 9-3 2010. Should I have the dealer do it or am I able to do it. I know the electronics on the car can get tricky.
Thanks Roy!
Let me put it this way, if you have to ask then have someone else do it
Yes, this can be tricky and wouldn’t want you to set off an airbag my mistake
I am looking into getting a radar /laser detector. I have done some research and ever since I found Radar Roy, he is the ONLY one I have continued to research and find out about radar/laser detectors. This guy knows his stuff and is very efficient and kind when I email him. He also returns emailes quickly. The purchase of my radar/laser detector will 100% depend on what Radar Roy says because he seems to be the absolute best at this.
Thank you Leo, your comments are a great Christmas gift! Drive safe and smart…
how do you tap into a fuse on the new Ford Fusions where they are all Micro Fuses….
cant find a “add-a-circuit’ for micro fuses…
Try your local auto shop, they should have a set
Any suggestions on hardwiring a 9500ix to a 2008 Lexus GS350?. Thanks
Not sure where the fuse box is in a Lexus, sorry
Roy – great site. Great reviews and info. I have two Audi A8s, a ’04 and ’05. I have never searched for the fuse box on this car but my other ones I have. Should I install the direct wire myself or do as you recommended the owner of the Mercedes benz E 550 do and have a professional do it?
On a Mercedes get someone from the dealer to do it, they are a pain!!
Be sure to check what size fuses your care uses: standard or mini, then get the Add-a-circuit that matches your size. The video shows the “Standard” (large) fuses.
Curious, if you were installing with the Escort smartcord, doesn’t it already come with a inline 2 amp fuse? Why would you add a second fuse?
Yes I am, the Add a Circuit does require a fuse and its an easier install, so what I will do is add a slightly larger fuse in the add a circuit
Yes, just add that extra fuse and you will be fine
Trying to hardwire an Escort 9500 to a 2015 Explorer. Same unit that I have had in two Taurus’s. Cannot find a fuse that is not hot with power off. Plus, fuses are very small. Do you know which one I can tap to, or any suggestions?
I would suggest reading the manual that am with your truck, each car is different and typically they have a guide in the manual that is helpful Ken.
