How to Extend the Life of Your Windshield Suction Cups
Imagine being locked up in your car for over 2 hours on a hot summer day with the palms of your hands flat against the windshield.
How would you feel?
Well this is how the suction cups attached to your windshield feels.
And because of this your suction cups are going to wear out on you and fail!
Tips to extend the life of your radar detector and GPS suction cups
Remove your Suction Cups During Extreme Temperatures
This is not only a good habit to get into so you can extend the life of your suction cups, but it will also go a long way to extend the life of your detector and/or GPS.
When things get hot, things expand – When things get cool they contract.
Because of this expanding and contracting going on inside your device the solder joints and components can fail.
Also by doing this you reduce the risk of having some thief break into your car to steal your stuff.
Keep Windshield and Your Cups Clean
Carry with you a clean cloth and some rubbing alcohol pads in your car.
When you do take off your mount, or if it has fallen of your windshield, you may see suction cup rings on your windshield.
Use the rubbing alcohol pads or glass cleaner to clean this area and remember to clean out all the dirt from your suction cups too.
Lubricate Your Cups Regularly
Put a small dab of Petroleum Jelly on your finger and massage it into the cups.
Also don’t use your saliva (spit) which contain enzymes that can degrade your suction cups, use clean distilled water instead
Toss the Suction Cups – Get a Mirror Mount
