2014 Laser Jammer Shoot Out
We invited the top 3 Laser Jamming Contenders: Escort, Blinder and Laser Interceptor and assembled an arsenal of ten police laser guns including a Laser Ally and two Dragon Eyes for our 2014 Laser Jammer Shoot Out.
We also enlisted the services of a retired Las Vegas Metro motor officer certified to operate laser guns and a Phoenix area enthusiast from the RadarDetector.net forum as our recorder.
Because of scheduling problems Laser Interceptor, could not attend, therefore their jammer was not officially tested.
The fist 18-minute video records most of the tests we did during this 5-hour test with the Blinder HP-905 and the Escort Laser ShifterPro and the second video is a round table with the participants discussing the overall test.
The Laser Jammers provided for this test were provided by manufacture
ECM Modes were activated on the laser guns during this test
JTG = Jam to Gun, the laser gun was unable to acquire a speed reading

Roy, great article and videos. I wonder how the older Blinder Xtreme M27/47 would fare in these tests. Any idea? Would it be a complete slaughter or would they be able to hold their own?
They would not have jammed the newer guns at all like the Laser Ally, the new Stalker. Another problem with the M27 no way to update it
I have the Blinder 905 4 head my question is from the drivers side, how soon is the warning detected, is the driver being alerted immediately as soon as the gun is on the car so the driver has time to respond in the dragon eye 113 ft and 304 ft ranges?
You will get an audible tone that you’re being jammed and police will typically target you between 800 to 500 feet, so you would have time to slow down.
So is there any laser jammer out there. That can JTG
Against the Dragon eye ?
I know of 4 different software versions of the Dragon Eye and we tested two this weekend. The Blinder jammed to gun on their latest and only had a 115 foot punch through with the first version. And both Escort, Blinder and LI are working on updates that will jam all 4.
One of the main reasons to buy a unit that is update able like the Blinder Hp905c. Check out radar Roy’s site to get a great deal too.
Thanks Russ, drive safe and smart…
Did the Dragon Eye guns have their electronic countermeasures feature enabled?
Yes, ECM was enabled on both
Roy,
Is there any difference in jamming laser diodes/ LEDs used between the 3 different companies? Or they just use the same Laser diodes?
Did the Escort guy mention anything about a possible firmware update to tackle the Dragon Eye?
Does the Escort one connect to their Escort Max / Live features like the old ZR# series?
Thanks
Scott
The LI and Escort have more power then the Blinder because of the smaller size of the heads
As far as Escort Live connectivity, not yet
During their trip out here Escort made it very clear that they are working on a firmware update for the Dragon Eye, just be a matter of a few weeks/months
Hi Roy. I was told that they software alone will not fix the issue for Escort, that it is a hardware limitation. I trust my guy, but hate to spend a bloody fortune to integrate ALP with my 9500ci and MidCity setup, if the Shifter Pro can do the trick.
Have you heard any updates from Escort for defeating the Dragon Eye?
Thanks.
Escort has a Dragon Eye now and they are doing some testing, but I suspect it will be awhile
Is there anyway Can you jam x k ka band?
There have been jammers that would jam X and K but never seen one for Ka. And they are illegal as hell
Hey Roy,
When the jammers and were able to JTG, can the person operating the laser tell if they are being jammed? Do the laser guns always show a speed?
Thanks,
John
They can tell that they are being shot, not what the result is on the gun. The laser guns when being jammed will not show speed and/or distance
Where did LI place in these tests since they were mentioned in the beginning that they were invited. I have the LI system. And curious to know how well it did agaimst new blinder. Thank you for all the good information. I bought my LI about 1.5 years ago based on your shoot out for 2013. All I can say is awesome.
The agreement was to be published you have to be present on this test. Cliff couldn’t make it so we didn’t publish. But I can assure you they did very well Gary
Hi Roy
Will you ever test the Antilaser Priority 13.
Jimmy, you have to understand the risks that I place myself and my business if I do but I do appreciate that you asked your question in a constructive manner rather then a flame as others have done.
Because of this I will answer your question
Here are the facts as I know them:
1) Blinder alleges that it violates its patent
2) AntiLaser alleges that it does not
3) Blinder has sued other companies and have successfully settled out of court
4) It is illegal to market products that violate patents
5) In past patent infringement cases I have been served as a defendant by other companies that have alleged patent infringement because my reviews/tests have been seen as marketing
6) Since 1996 I have paid out a substantial amount of money to attorneys in cases such as this.
Now lets discuss first my first amendment rights to what I can say regarding my reviews according to my attorney.
Any statements that I make based upon my opinion on the facts as I know them, is protected free speech, therefore I will expand on my question you have asked.
Is the AL a good laser jammer? – Yes
Are they violating Blinders patent?- All AL has provided me are threatening emails and letters. On the other hand Blinder I have spoken with them and their legal team and based upon the information I have, yes they are.
Will I ever test the AL? – Well your question should be will I ever publish the results of an Antilaser, and right now the answer is no, not till I know for sure that AL’s product does not violate Blinders patent rights.
What would it take for me to test the AL? Well first off clear and convincing evidence from a patent attorney that it does not or a statement from Blinder that it does not, or the findings from a US court of law that it doesn’t.
Jimmy, again thank you for your question and that you posted it in a positive manner without name calling, threats and what ever else that others have done.
Because of your respect, I took the time to answer your question as best as I could.
Roy,
I appreciate the fact that you are trying to do the right thing by not testing a product this is suspected to be violating a patent, but until Blinder decides to take this to court it is nothing more than their word against AL. I happen to know a little bit about the way their technology works and while I’m no patent attorney it doesn’t appear to me anywhere close the look up patent that Blinder holds. Regardless in the US we have a legal right called presumption of innocence in which the burden of proof is on he who declares (Blinder), not on he who denies (AL). That being the case you should consider testing the AntiLaser Priority system and see for yourself it is not the conventional jammer of the last 10 years.
Mirage, I appreciate your comments, thank you..
I’m not a patent attorney either and even if I was like you said it’s up to the judge 🙂
As far as presumption of innocence, that is if it when it goes to the courts
I learned this along time ago, the guy with the deeper pockets always wins. And after spending thousands of dollars in attorney fees and it never getting to that point, I learned that unless you have the deeper pocket, stand back and let it take its course
Roy, appreciate the response. I am looking for a new jammer and have read through all your articles. Great work by the way. As always your response is spot on. Better to stay away from legal issues, as us little guys always lose. Other sites have done some testing so those results can be found with a quick google search. I really like that you can quickly upgrade the AI and monitor it with your iphone but am worried if I purchase it and they lose the patent fight then I will be stuck with an expensive and outdated piece of technology. Sometimes legal battles prevent anyone from winning (sad face).
I’m not concerned with the patent stuff anymore, we have done some more research on this and discovered that the ALP uses a different type of system that in my opinion, does not violate the Blinder patent
whats the best jammer to run on a C5 corvette ??
Comes down to personal preferences William as the Blinder and Laser Shifter Pro are good jammers.
If you’re considering front and rear would recommend the Blinder

I have a three head blinder 905. It lights up on the head with 2 red and 1 green light. Is this normal?
Yes, have the same thing on mine and works
Thanks for doing all this testing and posting the results.
Running quad standard head laser interceptor on my white 2012 Toyota Highlander and it definitely works. The local bylaw/sherif always shoot from the rear in my area. The local RCMP always shoot from the front.
I get hit at least 2x a week and have been saved several times. Never gotten a ticket since I installed it.
Concerned about the dragon eye.
Any ETA on doing official Laser interceptor testing and posting results?
Thanks
I know that LI is working on an update for the Dragon Eye, the big problem is that there are 4 different programs that I know about and finding a jam for all 4
Is a blinder update coming to deal with dragon eye ECCM mode ?or will a new product have to be made?
Blinder is already able to jam the Dragon Eye in ECCM, what this video from our test: http://www.radardetector.org/2014-laser-jammer-shoot/
Hey Roy, thanks for the research.
In your opinion will Escort be able to do a software update to allow it to jam the Dragon Eye? I can’t see spending all that money to buy it if there is no way it will work on newer guns.
Thanks,
Kevin
Escort has a Dragon Eye now and they are doing some testing, but I suspect it will be awhile
Roy,
I have two questions. One, is there a relatively inexpensive system available for sale that would provide protection in MOST situations where vehicles are being targeted via laser? Not looking for the super high end, hidden/installed, quad, etc., just something that works without having to pay thousands. I also have an existing V1 for detection. Secondly, are most vehicles targeted from the front, and if so, approximately what percentage would you say this is the case? I ask that because I am trying to determine if I really need a system that jams from the rear, or if a front only system would be sufficient.
Thanks!
95% of all laser encounters are shot to the front and the most cost effective laser jamming system is the Blinder: http://www.radarbusters.com/Blinder-Laser-Jammers-s/2425.htm
Let me know if this helps
