Video Review Beltronics RX65 Radar Detector
Are you in the market for an affordable but yet high performance radar detector?
Then I would recommend that you consider the Beltronics RX65 radar detector.
Without question, the Bel RX65 is one of the best radar detectors that I have ever tested in the $300.00 radar detector class and it comes equipped with voice and the European Ku band.
In testing the Bel RX65 it offers long range that is comparable to the Escort 8500×50 and even the more expensive Escort 9500ix on all police radar bands including the deadly instant on and POP radar with minimal false alerts.
Another great feature of the RX65 is its crystal clear voice prompts that will enable you to easily identify the threat ahead while never taking your eyes off the road.
If you’re someone like me who cannot even program my own TV remote control because it is so confusing, you will find the programming of the Bel RX65 a snap to program for its advanced features. Don’t live in an area where X band radar is used or do you want to use the expert meter? Just press two buttons and it is programmed to your specifications.
Some of the more frequently asked questions we receive here at RadarDetector.org about the Bel RX65 include;
“Should I activate the Ku band on the RX65” and “Why doesn’t Bel honor the warranty for the detector that I just purchased on Ebay, Amazon or Overstock?”
There is no police agency in North America that uses Ku band so no, I would not recommend that you activate this band.
Ku is primarily used in European countries so unless you’re planning a trip on the Autobahn, keep it turned off.
As far as Beltronics and Escort not honoring the warranty for your radar detectors if you purchase it on Ebay, Amazon or from Overstock is that they require that you purchase their unit from their list of authorized dealers only so you can be assured that your Bel product is not a remanufactured unit or counterfeit.
On our blog we have a post about one customer who did decide to purchase his radar detector from Overstock and found out the hard way after receiving a speeding ticket that his detector was a re-manufactured unit that was not properly serviced and had no warranty.
To add even more salt to his wound, the detector even cost him an additional $62.00 after Overstock added their service fee to repair the detector several weeks after he purchased the unit.

Thanks for the review Roy, being a lifelong Escort guy I didn’t know much about the Bel side of the business, until now.
This review was a great help in making a decision on which detector to buy. Thanks.
Great budget detector, though I’d spend the extra for the 9500ix.
I often hear comparisons made between the RX65 and the V1, how valid are they?
We go into a lot more detail in our Radar Detector’s Buyers Guide on the comparisons along with the range charts. Also the RX65 has been replaced with the Bel Pro 500
